The Wines

We make less than a dozen barrels of wine per harvest. They are available on a strictly first come, first serve basis and generally sell out amongst friends, and friends of friends, relatively quickly. Do not be shy however, for we always hold some bottles back in order to make new friends throughout the year.* Note : If you are interested in G. W. Co for your restaurant, lodge, or wedding we have small quantities of wines available. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. For the on-trade market we generally we offer wine-hunter services of personally selected barrels from small producers. Generally we do labels in the style of our signature bottles based upon the customers needs. Costs vary depending upon the barrel and label chosen.

Barrel #11 - Syrah Aconcagua

Barrel #12 - Pinot Noir, Casablanca

Barrel #14 & #15 Cabernet Alto Maipo - Futures

Garage Wine Co. Barrel # 12 Pinot Noir, Casablanca - 2006

gwco-2009-110This wine was made from fruit on some beautiful hillsides straight north (15 kms) from the toll booth on Ruta # 68 to Viña. It was impeccably farmed, harvested the 15 of April, and was an elusive wine in the barrel.

spinot casablanca

* Look – Ruby red with a garnet center and surprisingly long, slow sexy legs for a Pinot. (Do not be folled by the sight of this wine though…)
* Smell – Lots of fruit, strawberries, edelberries, cherries, robust, a touch of sweet on the nose with a hint of a wet forest floor.
* Feel – Initially fresh and fruity, later on gets a big mouth feel for Pinot (viscosity one did not expect from the wine’s colour) and rounded medium tannins appear and hold gone’s attention.
* Taste – Strawberries, cranberries, cherries with a good long finish that tapers off slowly to foresty floor lightly spicey flavours. Conclusion – this a not a Chilean Pinot Noir. Outsiders, including the French have been far and away its biggest fans. It needs to be served colder than most pinots (but not white cold) as it does have an Oregonesque level of alcohol but nothing that takes away from a characterful Pinot.
* Unfiltered this bottle so remember to stand it up 12-24 hours before enjoying it!

(If you have a good picture of a bottle of this wine on your table [open and being enjoyed!] please send it on to us on info@garagewineco.cl and we shall include it here on the site . It is our intention to do away with product shots in the near future.)

Garage Wine Co. Barrel # 11 Syrah, Aconcagua - 2006

This wine was made from fruit just beneath the famous soils of Panquehue. It was farmed dry by small producer who farmed the fruit for our 2004 Syrah oh wouldn’t we all have liked to stored more of that away…

gwco-2009-089

  • Look – Raspberry red, clear with a deepening dark center and long, slow legs. (slow dirty tears as Neruda would have said…)
  • Smell – Big fruit right up front, young, robust a little sweet on the nose with a big hit of red fleshy fruit some violets and perhaps a hint of bitter chocolate.
  • Feel – Initially cool and fruity, later medium tannins appear and grip the roof of the mouth.
  • Taste – Raspberry, red currant (a note of lactic) with a finish long and fruity, medium dryness some round tannins and tapers off to leave traces of minerals. Conclusion – the youngest, and most straightforward in style of the wines of 2006
  • Unfiltered this bottle so remember to stand it up 12-24 hours before enjoying it!

Garage Wine Co. Barrel # 10 Carmenere, Aconcagua - Olmué 2006
This is a wine we have made three years running from the same fruit, now certified organic from Olmué. It’s typicity is marked Carmenere, yet that said it is not in the least bit green. 2006-carmenere.jpgOn the nose it has big red fruits of the forest with a nuance of floral tones of perhaps violet but fleeting. In the mouth it is round with a mid-section of spice, tabaco and darker berry fruit (mora and raspberries) and it’s finish is medium length.
